Inbreeding vs. Linebreeding

There is a fine line between both inbreeding and linebreeding in animal rearing and it is important to explain the difference.
It is also important to note that linebreeding is inbreeding, but with extra precaution and with a set goal in mind.
Inbreeding usually happens accidentally, and is for the most part detrimental. Detrimental effects include: low fertility in offspring/sterility, physical deformities, and detrimental genetic diseases
linebreeding is deliberate breeding of two (usually distantly) related individuals with the purpose of refining positive traits in an animal.Linebreeding is how we get dog breeds. It is necessary to preserve desired phenotype(s) and specific temperament(s).
