Already a huge difference in quality
When comparing the first generation to the second most recent [French Cities] litter, the difference is slight but a considerable step in the right direction.
Both of the pied females I have selected to be the next line are incredibly sweet in comparison to their more skittish, agouti siblings.
Although still reactive (Robo's act like they have adhd anyway) they are considerably calmer when picked up, and will even sit still in my hand for the most part (like thirty seconds).
When I feed and water the cage, the difference is that the only two out are the two pied females, Marseille and Toulouse.
I have even received licks (its like hamster kisses) from them!
I am amazed at the progress in just one generation. Of course, out of 6 hamsters, 2 are somewhat calm, but that is still 2 more hamsters with better temperament than I had expected to get.
Here is a picture of the girls all drinking from their new water with their momma Bijoux to the left.
